Valencian gastronomy

Valencia is much more than paella. With that, we don't mean that you shouldn't treat yourself to an authentic Valencian paella. If you have tried it before and don't love it, give it another chance; what you will eat here is nothing like any other. Furthermore, there are as many types of paella as there are families, but we can talk about that later on our blog.

However, a fish does not live by water alone, and Valencians do not live by paella alone. Valencia (and the Valencian Community in general) is a very rich land gastronomically speaking. Each area and even each town has its typical dish or sweet for every time of the year. Therefore, so that you can experience Mediterranean life to the fullest, we are going to do a brief review of the Valencian gastronomy that you will be able to try when you stay at our hotel on your next visit to Valencia.

Unmissable dishes of Valencian gastronomy

Let's start by talking about paella, although without going into much depth. This iconic dish, originating from the region, is made with rice from the Albufera, chicken, rabbit, green beans, butter beans, and a touch of saffron. You can try it in classic restaurants like La Pepica or in any of the restaurants in El Palmar.

If we continue talking about rice dishes, in Valencia there is an infinite variety: black rice, baked rice (one of the favorites in every Valencian home), 'arròs del senyoret' (gentleman's rice), 'a banda' (rice in fish broth), creamy rice, soupy rice, with lobster, etc. To try them, we recommend you Search for Marina restaurants that use fresh ingredients like the (also classic) Casa Carmela.

Another popular Valencian dish is fideuà, a delicious alternative to those previously mentioned that replaces rice with thin noodles. The classic one is fish-based with ingredients like squid, shrimp, and different fish, although there are also variants with other ingredients like duck or foie gras.

If you feel like trying Valencian gastronomy, you can organize a visit to Valencia and Sea You Apartamentos Port Saplaya, located in the Marina of Valencia, is the ideal accommodation option.
