Visiting
Valencia in two days is possible if you organize yourself correctly to enjoy life in the Valencian capital to the fullest. From
Sea You Apartamentos Port Saplaya, we bring you a guide to discover the best of Valencia in two days.
Visiting Valencia for a weekend
Valencia is a vibrant city with plans, monuments, gastronomy, and natural resources that would take a long time to fully discover. However, its size and layout make it possible that, if you only have a couple of days such as a weekend, you can still have a great experience.
What to see in Valencia in two days
Travel itineraries are quite personal. Some travelers prefer to do it at a leisurely pace, focusing on the gastronomic experience, while others want to visit historical monuments.
Below, we tell you what we would do to discover Valencia in two days. Adapt it to your tastes with the final recommendations to have the perfect itinerary for your vacation in Valencia.
Day 1 in Valencia: the city center and the best sunset
Valencia is a city that can be enjoyed at any time of the year. However, the ideal time to visit might be spring. Starting March 21st, the days become long again, but the heat is not as stifling as in summer.
Your first day in Valencia can start very early; the city is full of life from early on. Do not spend too much time on breakfast; save yourself for the gastronomic plan we propose below.
Start the tour by discovering the city center. In the historic quarter, you can
climb the Micalet (the bell tower of the Valencia Cathedral) to get good views of the city.
Walk through the streets whose history dates back to Arab times, such as Calle Caballeros. The
Lonja de la Seda (Silk Exchange), a spectacle of Valencian Gothic architecture, or the Central Market are also unmissable. In the latter, you can try one of the essential items of Valencian gastronomy:
the "esmorzar". Inside the market, amidst fruits and vegetables from the Valencian orchards, is the Central Bar (by Ricard Camarena). The ideal place to take a short break while you eat an incomparable sandwich.
This lunch in the purest "terreta" style will give you energy for a good while longer. Continue walking towards the Mercado de Colón, passing by the Estación del Norte (which deserves a visit, even if you are not taking a train) and the bullring. Once you arrive at the Mercado de Colón, you can stop to have an horchata at the Horchatería Daniel, which is located inside this modernist market converted into a restaurant area.
When you finish your snack, it's time to head to La Albufera to enjoy the best sunset. You can reach the viewpoint by bus or car. This will depend on the time of year; use the Search tool to find out what time the sunset is, but we recommend going a good while before to enjoy the thousands of colors reflected in the lake of La Albufera.
If you still have energy to go out for dinner, we recommend the Ruzafa neighborhood, full of atmosphere for all ages, bars with cuisines from all over the world, and special places.
Day 2 in Valencia: the City of Arts and Sciences and paella
We will start the second day with a walk (or bike ride) through the Jardín del Turia. The longest garden in Europe, located in the former riverbed of the Turia river, has sports tracks, parks for children, a circuit for runners, picnic areas, and much more.
At the end of this route is the City of Arts and Sciences. A futuristic complex that is a must-see during your visit to Valencia. You can visit the Oceanogràfic, the Hemisfèric, or simply enjoy the beauty of its architecture.
For lunch, we recommend moving to La Malvarrosa (Valencia's urban beach) to enjoy an authentic wood-fired paella at Casa Carmela, a true classic.
After this feast, you can choose to stay enjoying an afternoon at the beach, walk along the promenade, or take the opportunity to visit a museum or historical monument you still wanted to discover. End the day dining in the Cánovas neighborhood, preferably at a market cuisine restaurant.
